I had more ambitious intentions for this concept, comparing my iPod's dimensions with those of the amount of CDs its capacity represents, but ran into a few snags:

1) I ran out of CDs (only about 50 are pictured, versus the 200 or so my 20 gig iPod can hold)

2) Logistics, in that I didn't possess the equipment necessary to light the originally intended shot(s) as I would have liked to.

Because of this, I changed my submission at the last minute to a significantly less technically demanding one, but I hope it conveys the same intent, even if it's not quite as pretty to look at.

Post processing included some curves adjustment, a little brightness/contrast, and some color balance. Lighting was only daylight through the room's windows on an overcast day.

This marks my first submission to DPChallenge so constructive criticism is very much welcome and appreciated. (I already noticed the slightly misaligned CDs at the top. It would have been nice if the "background" CDs were perfectly aligned. Sigh.)

the white reads as blown out on my monitor and that really hurts the shot

hmmm ... good idea, but kind of boring execution

Is this an advertisement?

Not bad, but can't read the controls. You mean to say you didn't want the new mini ipod?

I definitely like and comprehend the concept.

The stark symmetry of this shot is interesting, but I'd also like the focus to be just as crisp. I'd like a bit more interesting lighting on it too - it took me a while to figure out what the background was, but I like the abstract nature of it.

If I knew what this object was, I might have a better idea what the picture was about.

Is this an MP3 player? I can't tell because the details are completey washed out from overexposure. Are you comparing differently sized music formats? This meaning is obscure without the title to explain it. The title should not be doing the work of the photo. It fails as an abstract composition.

great idea

I like the idea, but not the photograph. Maybe if the I-Pod were on
showing you list. Or if it were nestled in a pile of cd's.
Just thinking out loud.
