As the theme was buzzing in my mind, and I wanted to not delay it till the last moment, I decided to be in the lookout for anything that would suit. I was returning from a small party, and had my camera on me, when I located this welding shop. Though, it was drizzling, I made a pit stop for some 10 minutes. Then I had to rush back home to save my camera, as it started raining heavily.

Problem with these shots is that lens flares badly in such sharp light, it is difficult to get the exposure right, and your own eyes hurt if you watch for a little longer time. This is one of the 4 shorts that I took in quick succession while this welder was at work. Hope people at DPC like it. :-).

Really like it .Tried this myself earlier , best thing to do is have the actual ark behind something.
Oh and just so you all know, his hand would be getting all kinds of radiation all the way up to GAMMA radiation from not using a glove when welding.
So not really "safety" but it looks better so whats a little hand skin cancer if it gets a good shot LOL

I liked this one a lot. Really a great take on the challenge theme, and on its own a really good shot. Congrats on a top ten!

Great subject! Contrast seems a little intense but still one of my favorites so far.

I would have cropped off more of the black area on the left, but great picture otherwise!

really interesting colours on this looks almost like an 'acid' effect.

Good example of Safety at work.

Awesome shot. The smoke coming off of there is very nice. Difficult to expose everything properly, but I think shot does just that.

Excellent. I really like the color tones and the deep contrast creating separate parts of the picture. Fits the theme very well, too.

Great photo, but it feels a tad dark. I also know how difficult it must have been to get an exposure of the welder without being over exposed, so I can't complain about the photo being dark. I also like texture of the metal and the plat form he is working on.

Bit too much black space there I feel but otherwise I like it, I love the idea for the challenge.
