Knowing this won't score well against all the sterile studio setup shots DPC is so into liking, this is a shot I really like for it's simplicity and mood.
This is a no edit shot, with the only changes to the original being done in the conversion from RAW, then a minor crop to not have her centered.
Shot hand-held at 500mm focal length.

the dof here really gives me a feeling of being a part of this photo.

To me its like knowing that the summer's going to end as does the day and trying to squeeze out a little more fun, one more wave, one more beach volleyball game, one more dip in the ocean, before the long winter ahead. Bittersweet or maybe I'm just crazy, but that's what I see. Great image. Dex

I was born on the wrong coast......

Thanks Dex.
Nice to know someone "got it" and I appreciate the fav.

A lot would change around these parts if we all had time to sit and think of the story behind a picture and perhaps put one's self into the scene, imagining what it would be like to have been standing there when the shutter was clicked. Images are deeper than a 3 second glance.

A photo I can get involved with on a far deeper level than anything on the front page. Missed it during voting, unfortunately.

Also, as unfortunate, is the fact that while it shows shallow DOF on a relative scale, it doesn't hit you over the head with it. Although I think you knew that.

I like this a lot... It speaks volumes to me... kinda makes me wonder if it was a good day for boogie-boarding :)

Great silhoette. I like how the light has given this almost a metallic feel too.

Perfect DOF and the silhouette looks great.
I like the reflection on the board also.
