Challenge: Light Source (Classic Editing)
Camera: Minolta DiMAGE 5
Location: Shower stall
Date: Oct 16, 2002
Aperture: 3.5
ISO: 400
Shutter: 3 secs
Date Uploaded: Oct 16, 2002

My first submission, a self portrait shot in a shower stall with a candle as my only light source. It seems that digital cameras have a difficult time with low light/long exposure situations, does anyone know of one that doesn't?

a lower iso with a longer shutter would have probably been less noisey. my experience with the dimage cameras is that they tend to be on the higher end of noisy. with my e10, on the lowest iso, im able to easily do 8 sec exposures with no visible grain. a lot of canons and sony's are also pretty good at keeping the noise down .. one more thing you might want to look into is Neat Image noise reduction software. Feel free to message me if you want more information.

Is this a guy??

The picture could have been sharper. It does not make since to me why his face is nothing but hair. I don't understand why the picture is mostly one color. You are trying to tell me something but I don't know what it is.

I think some resolution was lost at a higher ISO, although I'm no expert. I don't care for the pose a whole lot. I don't think anything was to gain from the girl being shirtless. The lighting isn't too bad. I think the biggest problem is the grainy texture. - Inspzil

dramatic pose and I feel the grainy texture adds to the drama. if light source was shone more from above I think the drama would have been increased and the darkest shadows would be below the subject; anchoring him, while the whole upper part of the body was highlighted. IMO would have made your composition stronger.

if this were black and white there would be a lot of gray tones, is a little fuzzy.

Flat chested woman or long haired man? Doesn't matter - I still don't like it the suggestiveness of it. Sorry.
