Fairly last minute entry in this challenge that has but 18 entries one day before rollover. Very literal interpretation. I hope some other people will be more creative :) Long time since I did a basic editing entry. I find them frustrating, but you do learn from constraints. This time I had to be rather creative to get the B+W conversion the way I wanted, using layers of selective color shift.
I like the shot, not sure if it won't look too ordinary for DPC. We'll see...

I really like the contrast achieved with the b&w, striking the old rough bark with the youth. Pity about the shoe being cropped out but thats personal choice I guess.
The wide angle makes the child look larger than he actually is. I wonder what it would have looked like if you'd made him appear smaller, and contrast the huge immovable tree with his small frame. Might have conveyed the sense of being immovable a bit more persuasively.
