Challenge: Serendipity (Basic Editing I)
Camera: Sony DSC-F717
Location: Niagara falls, Ontario
Date: Apr 20, 2004
Aperture: f3.5
ISO: 100
Shutter: 1/1000
Galleries: Nature, Water
Date Uploaded: Apr 20, 2004

Went to the falls in hope of this kind of shot. I was fortunate but hopefully the mist will not affect my score. Increase the saturation and a bit of the reds in the rainbow. Also increased the brightness to reveal a bit more rocks from under the water.

What a nice entry. It's hard to find a whole to constructively critiqu. I might have put the horizon line a lower in the frame. A little more sky, and a little less water. You have the space. The water is very dark at the lower boerder, and you don't pick up the detail in the rocks for a few centimeters. Give this void back to the sky. Just a lovely picture. 8

Taking on faith it wasn't manipulated, this photo represents Serendipity perfectly. The photo itself is pretty and rather interesting but doesn't quite gel completely for me.

Beautiful shot and fits the topic too. Amazing falls. Too bad about the odd shadow where the rainbow ends at. I love the water in the foreground. Great job.

Nice image. Like the leading line from the bottom left into the image. Colors seem a bit too pumped up - especially the green at the edge of the waterfall on the left side.

Serendipity indeed. A nice shot, shame there is a slight second rainbow to the right of the pominent one and the colours appear a little flat.

Alas, it's nice to see something that meets the definition of the challenge and is a nice photo too. Good job.

While a rainbow is not exactly serendipitous at this location, this is a nice shot of the falls. If you can, experiment with different aperture / shutter speed combinations and try with a polarizing filter, too.

Well, you already know you're stretching a bit since there are rainbows at the Horseshoe Falls almost any sunny day..... But the subject is decently captured. A lower point of view and the edge of the falls would have hidden the cast shadow on the mist. Lucky you for being in one of my favorite spots this past week.

This is a very predictable Rainbow!!!!!, not found by chance. Niagara falls has a rainbow pretty much 24/7

Isn't there always a rainbow when the sun is out?

This is an incredible picture. You did really well. I love the aquamarine color; a great composition for me because I like to see the water on the right side rolling over the edge, and I like that tiny peek through the mist to the other side. But I don't think it's serendipity -- the rainbow is always there.

Now this was a serendipitous experience for me because I am so pleasantly surprised to have discovered your beautiful image -- of course I thought I would see nice pictures here, but I am amazed by yours.
