Photograph Information Photographer's Comments
Challenge: Purple III (Basic Editing)
Camera: Canon EOS-400D Rebel XTi
Lens: Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II
Location: Back Yard
Date: Aug 18, 2008
Aperture: f/2.8
ISO: 800
Shutter: 1/25 s
Galleries: Macro, Floral
Date Uploaded: Aug 18, 2008

Taken late in the afternoon requiring a lot of flash making the purple faint and a fast shutter resulting in the shallow depth of field. Both I expect to be punished for. Oh well, you don't improve if you don't practice.

Wee bit too blurred but I love that texture on the bee's upper body.

I know it's tough to get this close a shot, but I don't find this shot to grab me. Maybe it needs a bit of a bump in the yellows, and a touch sharper.

I like the purple flower... I wish there was a bit more sharpness on the bee's entire body (looks like that one leg is sharp) and a tad bit more light so we could see his details better.

Not really sharp, is it.

a little out of focus and the bug would be more appealing from the front. More depth of field is needed here, but a very beautiful purple flower.

It has some purple, but needs boosted a little. Focus off, too.

More light and a smaller aperture would give you more DOF and get more of the bee in focus.

not quite a good enough focus for me, but those bugs have a tendency of moving too quick to really get an good focus-just a 5 from me
