 I took a screenshot of a Google map over Africa and used that as an overlay. Those African deserts have some great texture.

Overlayed the texture and turned down opacity modes with Vivid light. Erased some of it around the stamen of the flower to let it shine through.

It looked too dark, so I flattened and brightened it up too.
