Taken in my kitchen using a variation on the method described by alansfreed in his "how'd they do that?". The apple is actually being raised by a thread, rather than falling. I left the shutter open for 15 seconds in a dark room and used a strobe to get the multiple exposure effect.

I avoided problems with the apple swinging back and forth by using an electric drill to raise and lower the apple smoothly. I put a bolt through the spool of thread and secured it with a washer and nut. I then tightened the end of the bolt into the drill chuck. By running the drill forward or backwards, I could raise and lower the apple smoothly while the flash was strobing to create the desired effect.

The initial bright exposure (which shows the apple in its lowest position) was taken with the built in flash. Then I began raising the apple and turned on the dimmer strobe.

The idea may not be very original but the performance of it is pretty good. Strange to see the quantitative movment of the apple but not just continious movment as you would expect to see on a film, nice effect. Like the expression of the face of your model and I asume that you´ve had a lot of fun performing this. Did it fall on his head?
It´s a same that the guy isn´t very sharp and I think that this image is going to suffer for that. Dont know if it´s something technical by your hand or if there is litle bit of a movement on the model in you long exposure.

Hilarious! Well done and the colors are really good too. Only thing I would say negatively is that the top of your subjects head appears to have gotten cut off. 8

the idea is great, but shouldn't he be sitting under a tree instead of in front of a black cloth ;-) i give you an 8 though, because i really like the idea

This was a good idea but I can't get past that expression. It not only makes it look more posed, but it's not clear what the expression is "saying"

The model is a out of focus here and his expression is a little...weird...but good shot and concept nonetheless...

Nice background and motion of the green apple. Not sure your models expression works very well. Great colors.

Perfect! That has to be one of the goofiest looks I've seen.
Not quite as sharp as i'd like.

kind of silly

This had better win - it easily is the best photo that conveys some strong semblance of "serendipity" without explaining itself in the title. And it looks great, too - technically, and in terms of composition. Hilarious face. Top score for the week.

You could get more of a "void" feeling if you moved the subject away from the backdrop a little.

Ouch! That must've hurt! Anyway, more contrast and maybe even b&w would make more of an impact IMO LOL.. pun unintended!
