This is what would have been the columned front of a building, The Scottish National Monument, resembling the Parthenon in Athens, to commemorate those who died in the Napoleonic wars...however, they ran out of money and only the columns were ever erected. Hence it is called 'Edinburgh's Disgrace'. It is, obviously, a very familiar landmark in the city. I'll post some pictures of it in my portfolio after the challenge has finished.
Exposure correction -2.1.
Post-photo:-
decreased brightness and increased contrast to bring out sky.
Changed blue hue.
'Sharpen' filter
cropped to lose left column and detail on right.

Thanks to the Accidental Tourists caught in the frame and my 3 1/2 yr. old daughter for being dragged up a hill early on a Saturday morning.

Great use of the tiny figures to add perspective to this monument. I especially love the sharpness of the image, and the dynamic composition really adds strength to the shot. Nice work. 9

I hope people take more than a nano second to look at this shot & notice the human silos towards the bottom. I owuld have cloned the trees & such out but that's me. 7

Sweet. Too bad about the tree though. Really like the two people included in the shot and and the halo effect caused by the sun.

Great with the people to really give a feeling of scale.

Perspective is everything. Including the people in this photograph create that perspective that would otherwise be gone. The placement of the sun in this image creates a great composition, along with the diagonal... great shot :)

Nice composition. Placement of the human figures perfect. Not sure I like the tree shapes. Could crop from the top a bit (about half the distance from the top of the left side to the dark shape.)

Good use of people to provide sense of scale and interest. Their positions aren't ideal for me though and what's the thing on her head?
