First need help. Wouldn't you know I pick one of the only flowers in the garden to which my wife does not know the name. Got it at a plant exchange. If you know it . . . name it please.
Secondly, this is not the best of shots. The object of my affection was actually the little sprout front and center. The yellow flower is out of focus. . . but i chose not to crop it out. How good are your eyes? Look for Mr Toad.

And NO, tnun, the frog did not come from my medicine chest!

I would have clipped that bright leaf that is turned over. . . but Mr Toad would have disappeared on me.

UNKNOWN NO LONGER: Plumed Cockscomb Thank you Hatchet and KarenNfld

I have bad eyes, but I found him! This reminds me of mum & pop, and their proud little offspring. Too cute!!

Great interesting photo you've achieved drydoc. That toad just adds another dimension to this shot.

Steve, nice colors on this one, It took me a while to find the Toad, he's hidding in there LOL

Yep, toad, worm, and beautiful bright colors. Nice job.

Without looking at the other comments I would have said Celosia Toadicum obscurantum, believed to be very important in some folks' medicinal repertoire.

Photography full of hard choices! My guess is that you would have needed a telephoto to isolate the fresh sprout, or a wider aperture, but then we would have completely missed Toad in the mulch. Actually I tend to favour accident over control. (Just as well). T

Interesting colours and I can see why you wanted to include Mr Toad too. You could potentially have cropped it so that you had the two flowers in one shot and the toad in the other.

You definitely captured the moment.....

Definitely Celosia. The flower tags I have say "Castle Celosia."

Anywho... I have some in my flowerbed right now, but I have no idea how to take a good shot of them. I sit there with my camera, and just stare at them... then turn to the easy targets, heh. Maybe by Day 31 I'll brave the Celosia.

Definatley look like Celosia (Cockscomb) to me.. and yes.. I see the little toad!! I love these, but have never had much luck keeping them alive.. The flowers of course.. not the toad! :)

Mr. Toad is well-camouflaged (and desaturated I'd guess). There's also a little bug on the yellow flower. Lots of life in this one!

i don't know flowers either, but are they snapdragons? They have that shape, but i think they're probably something else.
