Yeah, I overprocessed it. But which part? The commenters seem divided on that point.

As for me, it was an experiment. I've seen shots processed like this win ribbons, but it was some time ago. Maybe DPC went through a phase and I missed it. My only (minor) annoyance is that I took this shot way back at the beginning of the month specifically for the Free Study and then didn't finish it up so it'd do well. But I still love the loooong view using the wide-angle lens.

So - a learning experience. :)

Congrats to the folks who correctly identified this as the USS Missouri, one of the grand battleships. The treaty ending World War II was signed onboard, and standing in that spot is something to experience, especially since it's now permanently parked on Battleship Row in Pearl Harbor. The USS Arizona lies short distance away, entombing more than 1100 men who died when it blew up in the attack on Pearl Harbor that got the US into the war.

I think the shot is GREAT! Love the subject as well as the color. The appearance suits the subject! Great job!

I get the impression from your comments that people thought it a tad overprocessed. :-) I like the perspective and like the freakin' immensity of the thing. I think this is a hard shot to process - all those lines and edges are just waiting to start going all jagged on you.

The clouds behind the mother-in-law (old battleship LOL!) really make the picture! I wish the foreground right elements were more in focus...

Big Mo! Good shot. Maybe a little harsh finish. But good use of the clouds to add some interest.

Cool perspective and good composition. Not sure I like the strange effect on the clouds, though.

It's a pity there's so much clutter in the shore to get in the way.

A little overprocessed for my taste. Still an impressive shot. 7

The clouds are great, but the picture seems a bit overprocessed (the "63" seems unreal).

I was stationed on the sister ship USS Iowa (BB-61). They are truely intimitading ships. Great detail and saturation in this shot, I like it. 7

I don't like the processing. I'm a fan of HDR and shawdow/highlights but the clouds look so weird in this one.

Holy tonemapping, Batman! I like me some tonemapping, but this goes a bit overboard (pun intended!) in my opinion. Still, pretty cool looking.

I prefer post processing closer to reality. Just too far for me.
