I took this shot on a day trip me and my buddies Raggi and  indridistefans took to Þórsmörk. I don´t really do this a lot anymore, get out in daylight in good weather for some landscape shooting and I kind of miss it. That day was great, it wasn´t really about photography although me and Indriði took plenty, Raggi isn´t really interested in photography and we didn´t want him to wait too much for us, it was more about the three of us just getting away for a day and we got some great weather.
This waterfall is on the way back from Þórsmörk, close to the #1 ring road and it´s called Seljalandsfoss, you can walk behind it as you can see. It´s one of my favorites and I have taken a couple of shots of it before, it´s only just over 1 hour from Reykjavík. I have submitted photos of it before, here is one I took over three years ago and another one of a waterfall that is really close by, only about 500m to the north of this waterfall.
 
It´s funny looking at those two shots now because I would have processed them so diffrently now but still composed them the same way, guess I still use the same set of eyes to take photographs but have improved my technique a bit since then. Used a 106 ND filter to be able to get the long exposure in daylight.
As for post processing, ran the image through C1 where I set the WB, contrast and saturation. Since the image had such dark shadows I made another image from the same raw file through C1 that was much brighter and masked the images together to keep the dark shadows from being pitch black. Then used curves for contrast and sharpened + added frame after resizing.
I love the sensor cleaning of the camera, this is at f11 and I have used the camera a LOT since I got it and I change lenses all the time and I have never cleaned it, didn´t have one spot I needed to remove :)
Am heading for Norway for two weeks so I won´t be able to check any comments as helpful until well after the voting has ended but I will eventually! |

no trees and dark blue skies=ICELAND! just my guess :)
wonderful range and the silky smooth waterfall, I like how it seems to be lit so evenly, I wonder if you used some light painting. |

| What a beautiful scene. Great tones and composition. A slightly shorter shutter speed might have provided a little more detail in the water, but that's REALLY splitting hairs. Tough to find much of anything wrong with this shot. 9 from me! |

Good composition, and rather fascinating subject.
The image is globally very dark though. The good point is that it emphasizes the contrast, but the image is still contrasted enough, and more attractive, after a simple level's adjustement. |
