 The Sunflowers are back at Buttonwood Farms in Griswold CT. This is a great place to take the family in the summer for ice cream and spending some time in the rolling countryside of southeastern Connecticut.

Processing:
Selective colors to enhance yellows, reds and greens
Curves
Noise Ninja
Crop
Save for web
Added layer - added watercolor effect and adjusted opacity to <50%.
Masked blooms in focus.
Save for web.

I hope this gets me into the second round with a 6+ score. I think the colors and details should give me a chance...


post challenge: based on some comments during voting, I tried an alternate crop...


I agree that it is cleaner and more 'focused' on the sunflowers. Thanks for the useful and helpful comments

That is absolutley beautiful. I just love the colors and crispness of the front flowers. The background bokeh just adds a nice finishing touch.

I looked at your alternate entry but I think I still like this better. What a beautiful scene. I love how the bokeh looks almost kind of bubbly.

The Bokeh is a bit choppy here. It would also be better if you cropped out the blank top part and just showed the flowers.

wow it looks like a painting... until I see that sharp sunflower in the foreground and focus on it.... then it seems like a sunflower being held infront of a painting.... ;) very nice effect! :-)

I'd crop to remove the trees in the background - just leave the field of sunflowers.
