Ah, well...lesson learned, I guess.

for some reason it doesn't say that Photomatix is illegal, but I remember they made an announcement saying it was and stuff.

It is? I'm positive I've seen processing details for basic entries that include single RAW files processed in Photomatix.

That would be problematic, since I self-DQ'ed a couple of challenges ago. :-(

edit: I'm not seeing anything in the Basic rules that would indicate Photomatix is prohibited. ??

This shot is great and I am happy it scored so well. But, do you realize that Photomatix Pro is illegal in basic? It is unfortunate becuase Photomatix pro does much the same as Shadows/Highlights does in PS for a single image and shadows/ highlights are allowed in basic...strange huh?

Yep, it is. The RAW file was converted to DNG, and the DNG was tone-mapped in Photomatix. The "curves" adjustment in Photoshop brought out the sky. Of course, that left the foreground painfully over-staurated. :-(

the pot of gold can't be far away - the deepness of the golden yellow grasses to offset the blues of the sky really work together

A bit too much saturation...but great picture.
