In painting we learned to create lines not by drawing them but by putting two different tones next to each other. You demonstrate that beautifully. In fact, the lines in line drawings are just illusions trying to simulate this effect.
This is ADORABLE. The subject of the photo doesn't seem to be a single line, more like an adorable kid, though.
