Post challenge:

Thanks all for the great comments. There were many that pointed out the lighting (or lack there-of) on the mother's face. This was actually intentional, as I wanted the little girl to have more prominance (which is usually the case in this type of relationship). However, I can see where a more balanced lighting would make for a more visually appealing shot.

I actually agree with your lighting - with more even lighting it would just be another blah shot.

I really like so much about this image - the facial expressions, the theme, the two beautiful young ladies. I think the only little thing I would say is that the lighting on mom's face, especially in the eyes, could have used a bit of boost to really take this up a notch.

Overall, great work and congrats on the awesome score.

Great facial expressions! The one thing I would have liked would be a little more light on mom's face, but I love the photo!

A very, very nice shot! A bit more light on Mother's face, perhaps. Comp, BG, focus - OK. But those expressions are priceless! Bet you are having fun together...

Would've liked a little bit more lighting on the mother's face, but great concept and great shot.

Better lighting on the adult subject's face would have made this a winner. Still very good!

I like everything about this except the lighting. I find the shadows distracting and frustrating. I can't see the faces as well as I would like to.
