A bit of colored water for the elderberry wine, some melted and re-formed colored candle wax for the spilled wine. The lace? well, about $1 in SF's Chinatown a few years back.
The glasses are about 100 years old, perhaps more. So they fit the scene nicely. They were my Mother-in-law's, who may also have inherited them. I wouldn't dare break one. That nice lady would come back and talk to me, sharply.
Okay,
For a simple composition, I did fuss with this a lot, but fairly gently.
Crop and rotate slightly. Match the color of the 'spilled wine' to the 'wine' in the glass.
Spent quite a bit of time on the glass. Used levels, in several passes to reduce the reflections.
A bit of cloning.
Sharpen.

Oh, Wow!
from the comments, I knew this was not exactly getting rave reviews. But what the heck it was fun to do.
One thing though - my "white balance" was exactly "on," thanks. The lace is ecru colored (that's the beige/brown color, pictured, that is also a common lace hue)
because it was "old lace" I decided to use "old" colors.
That's all. Again it was fun, and thanks for all the comments. |

Without the title, this really has a hard time standing on it's own in regards to telling a story or displaying a crime scene. |

Not a bad shot but the wine looks fake. |

I think a little more light here would help your scene--its a bit dark. |

I've actually made elderberry wine -- left out the arsenic though ;-) |

odd pp on the wine, it would've seeped through the lace. doesnt look convincing. |

cool lighting technique. looks almost taken in a black light. Is the wine actually on the table cloth or has it been inserted after the fact. |

Nice tie in to a title. Spilled drink looks a little static sonehow. |

hmm.. clever. but it looks like you used normal house lights as your studio lights in this one. I only say that because the lace has a yellow tint to it. that could be the actual color (I would not know) but to make it white you only have to do a simple de saturation on the yellows and it should bring the white right out. ;) |

Nice image, the composition is great, love the title. However the lace seems to have a yellowish cast to it could be my monitor thou. |

It seems your WB is off (towards the "warm" end, the white lace has an orange tone). overall your pictures appears very soft although you controlled the DOF pretty well. the red wine seems fake. |

The lighting is a little weird, and the colors look washed out. It also looks too set up. |

That wine looks like it's been regurgitated. Yuck! It doesn't look natural at all. Was the lace yellow or white? |

This image does not sell the concept, also it seems the white balance is way off, unless you meant for it to be orangish/yellowish. Needs more of a story of the scene. |
