I think this guy got a little crazed when he discovered the bonanza of ex-popping corn I dumped on my picnic table. And why did I do that? well, the fridge has been failing on and off for weeks now, and the opened bag of popcorn was in a cooler in which the ice melted, soaking the corn, which made it unpoppable. so I either let the wildlife have it or tossed it out, and baiting the wildlife seemed like more fun ;-)

Used the flash from a distance (it was late afternoon and this part of the yard was in shadow) which accentuated the crazed expression.

PP - converted from RAW, cropped, increased saturation, descreased saturation on grass, cloned out a light-colored leaf on the picnic table, added border, resized, sharpened with noise reduction.

I'll say! - that flash really does heighten the crazed look. Do you have an after pic showing his stuffed cheeks? :)

LOL, he does seem to have that crazed look in his eye! It's really cool that you got him in front of the pile of corn, it really puts his size into perspective.

He does have rather a crazed look in his eye. The yellow makes a nice background for him.

chipmunks are so cute. It's fun to see the little creature by the mountain of corn. The lighting isn't up to your usual quality. This might be a fun image to experiment with the lighting effects filter in PS (filter>render>lighting effects). I would play with the Omni light.

e.t.a: You can achieve similar lighting effects by using a Soft Light layer and painting with a low saturation soft brush using black/white to burn/dodge. Although I'm sure you know that already, someone else reading this might be interested.

Love this one. What fun. You used a good group of settings to shoot this, and the scene is precious too.

He's just won the chipmunk equivalent of the lottery !!

If you do this again maybe you ought to try draping a cloth over the table first and propping it up at the back so it gives you a ready made backdrop ?

Nice shot, I like that the camera is at the same level as him, the yellow of the corn compliments the colours very well
