So, you probably think this is a shoehorn... but really, if you want to woo a woman, what better combination? The final result could indeed be mutually beneficial and/or a relationship.

But seriously, while out riding my bike between thunderstorms an looking for poppies and stuff to shoot in the vineyards, I passed one of my favorite vineyard rosebushes and the ol' "you know this ain't gonna fly" lightbulb went off - Partners! So I parked the bike, climbed up the little steps, and tried to expose for the sky which was a bit on the brightish side compared to the vineyard. Took several. Had the 10-22 on the camera and briefly though of switching to the 24-105 but realized I didn't have it with me. Besides, wide is fun!

Post processing - some different stuff, including a somewhat unusual thing for me - I selected the vineyard and the rose bush using the nifty magic wand thingie and created another layer with those so I could brighten them up a bit without affecting the sky. Was getting some blue banding when I tried just normal shadows/highlights on the whole thing (still has a bit) and really didn't care for all the noise generated when I tried tonemapping it. Oh, and there's a bit of a crop to make it a bit simpler as far as the message I'm trying to convey and to stick to the rule of thirds a tad as far as the sky/ground is concerned.

All this for something that may well not break 5. :-)

Post challenge - Yay! Made 5! And you gotta admit that 22 votes under 4 is pretty impressive!

Aw man, Deb - this is awesome! It reminds me of those fairytale movies - the feel you get when watching Pushing Daisies - sort of surreal and yet real at the same time. I totally loved it during voting and am disappointed it didn't score higher.

You know what's funny... I voted on this during the challenge, gave it a 7, and never even read the title lol. What I liked about it most was the perspective from under and behind the camera. I interpreted it as two flowers who were checking out the beautiful scenery together and they just kind of snuck into your photo. The sky looks great too. Well I appreciated it although obviously I did not see the original intention lol.

Nice. I know it was outside of your control, but a really deep blue sky, with those fluffy clouds and the green and red of the subjects would have made for a killer image.!

Really good perspective. The red flowers really stand out against the green and blue in the rest of your photo.

Nice ideas, the colors of the roses stand out against all the green. Making the colors all a bit brighter would add more to the photograph.

Lovely shot, they definitely do partner nicely when one is in trouble with his girlfriend!
