give up shooting? never! :-)
you must've misread what I was saying, I was just trying to encourage someone else who was thinking of giving it up.

Hey, I've herad on forums you plan to give up shooting.... I rated your "wheel" a 9, so some of us are very near to your "taste", but others look more to the "impact"... I don't really like the 3 winners, the didn't get more than 6 from me, but all people, with different way of looking at photos vote, and "artistic" is not the most rated aspect most of the cases.
Go on shooting!

| This is soo close to great (from very good) -- the missing factor is DOF - the linen backdrop is too crisp and becomes an element in the shot. That makes a competition for my attention from the wheel (an interesting one!). The very front edge of the wheel (by the nut and white paint) is just oof (unfortuneattely right by the white paint that draws extra attention to it) I offer these comments, of course, IMHO. |

Excellent choice of tone & composition. The burlap background would be a distraction in any other image, but in this cse, it adds so much to the depth.

| Very nice composition. I like the fabric background and the textures in the wheel itself. The colors are just slightly sepia on my monitor, which gives the pictures a wonderful tone, while allowing the interesting shapes and textures take center stage. I don't think I've ever seen a wheel like this with springs attached. Wonderful picture. I hope you do well in the challenge. |

i like this shot... it does not really have a story of its own... it does not have an extraordinary composition... but it's a nice shot as a whole...
good job...
