This is Aníta, we went on a short trip to Þingvellir for the Spring version of our seasonal series we are working on, you can see it on Flickr if you are curious. This is not part of that series but taken just after, it was close to sunset so I asked her to stand between me and the setting sun and took some backlit shot´s. May was incredibly hectic for me and truth be told, even though I shot roughly 7000+ images this month, almost all of that was for work so I only had three photoshoots to pick from, this one or two superhero photoshoots and since I just remembered this on the last day, I haven´t even shown the models those shot´s yet so there you go...
That doesn´t mean I am going to use that as an excuse if it does poorly in the challenge because I really like this shot and it really is one of my favorites this month, however I don´t expect it to score well here at DPC. Too many broken "rules" for you guys I guess, the lens flare and the blown backround to name two, I´d be surprised if this scored anything but a low 5 at best.
I did submit something similar last year though and the voters pleasantly surprised me then by voting much higher than I anticipated, so who knows this time :)
Aníta did her own makeup and I only used ambient lighting for this. |

No excuses here m8 ;) This is very well done. Had a hint this was yours from the making of the 85mm at f1.2. The lighting and composition is perfect. I also like the warm tones on the model. Perhaps one of those shots... LCD's that some people have just don't do this shot justice. Looks great on my CRT. |

A little washed out and orangey on the face. |

Lovely Contre-Jour portrait, these are very hard to do well. The only thing I don't like is the strong red/yellow tint on the skin tones. I would prefer a colour balance adjustment just on the skin and maybe the top to bring these a little bit back to the natural colours. Great model, pose, expression though and I like the sun flare on the hair. Nice! |

Beautiful photo. I love the fact her eyes match the reds in rest of the photo. It's suttle but it really draws you in. |

Love the eyes. I like how you used the sun and even allowed it to bleed past the subject. Very neat effect. |
