"Colorized" version of this shot -- I thought it gave it a look of artificial light at night.

In addition to the other editing I added additional Curves to the RGB and Blue/Yellow Channels.

Love the deep tones of this version. I think I'd crop it about the cut leaf though.

Great improvement here! Adds a lot of interest with this edit. I like the purplish tint in the background, though it seems a bit unreal, but it goes with the edit nicely. I think the one change I'd make is the highlight on the bottom... broken leaf? It seems to stand out and draw attention to a difference in the lighting to me.

I have played with Colorize before and have never liked the outcome, this I have to admit is fantastic..

Hard to believe this is the same image. Kinda looks like an alien plant from another world! The all around darkness really brings out the interesting parts, like the red on the main stalk. Really nice work!

Now this is an after where the subject really pops visually and the interest in the photo literally shoots up skyward!! The original has flat contrasts and aside from interesting angle it is compositionally not enough to hold the attention of the eye. But this after image REALLY reaches out and holds one's attention. The agave plant takes on an aspect of some Dark Tower rising up into the brooding night sky. The darker background really allows the textures on the plant to pop and be noticed much more than the original. Love those groves that one can see in the 'leaves'. The 'thorns' take on a much more menacing aspect in this after composition for the spikes are black and sharp extruding from the stalk - seemingly having forcefully punctured through such that 'blood' is adorning the base of the 'thorns'.

I thought the before was a little flat looking but you really gave this some PUNCH with this edit. I enjoyed flipping back and forth and watching the changes. Almost looks like a negative. I am loving the way the light turned out as well, very surreal and alien looking.
