This is a great little hike in central Vermont. The shots from the bridge in the background are fantastic when the sun is reasonably high in the sky - and the 0.5 mile walk to the bottom of the gorge is worth the trip. The leaves were a beautiful translucent green and the sky was so rich and blue. I tried to recreate the feel of the day - yes I boosted the saturation a bit - but it was really amazing with the colors and light of a mid-May afternoon in Vermont.

Tonemapped single image using PM Pro 3. Adjusted levels, saturation/hue on single channels, noise ninja for contrast and smoothing of the HDR artifacts, a bit of dodge, burn, and sponge to increase local areas of color on the trees etc. A bit of cloning of a few leaves in the foreground. Crop, resize, save for web.

Great shot! The rock add some nice weight to the foreground, and balances the reflections out. This looks like one of those scenes that is stunning in person, and difficult to fully appreciate in two dimensions. Nicely done.

Lovely colors. Great reflection in the majority of the image, but I'm not so sure if it's a reflection or just the clarity of the water in the right lower portion. It really makes me just want to look at it for a bit. Nicely done.

Peter

Well first of all you need to take this out of the free study context and ask yourself is it a great landscape and the answer is without a doubt.

Beautifully composed, strong leading lines, visually very aestetic nice reflection etc.

I guess my one issue may be that it does not uniformedly have the pinpoint infinite sharpness that some landscapes do. Let me emphasise that this is a very small point but now taking it into a DPC context then the slightest flaw in a FS will be pounced upon. However lets also be honest and say that that is a pretty healthy looking scoring graph that you have there, no 1s or 2s and a 6 average (which is incidentally what I scored it)

One thought, I notice that you tonemapped this and I just wonder whether in this instance that was maybe a step to far and you could have stayed with 'traditional' techniques

Let me tell you Peter if I had taken this shot I would be very proud, I do think it is strong and striking but perhaps without the wow factor that will make it top 20

Nice job

Very pretty scene. I like the reflections. Also cool is the bridge location in your comp.

Lovely shot, you well capturing the place - especially having the bridge in the background. Very well composed. I can remember swimming in that same spot when I was a kid :-)

One of the best I've ever seen of Quechee. I'm hoping to get out there next weekend for the balloon fest

for some reason my eye has trouble settling on this image. Perhaps because the horizontal line is centered. You might try cropping the top of the frame about 1/4 and making this a river leading up to the bridge. The sky doesn't really add much to the story.
