This boat was washed ashore 10 minutes from where I live (perfect for this challenge, yay). They managed to refloat it. Another boat was washed ashore the same night but it was wooden and was smashed apart by the waves.
Not many angles to choose from when there are people all over the beach watching. I prefer the view from the front rather than the rear.

I liked it in black and white. Hopefully it will do well.

YAY, made it to the top 10 and a new PB. Thanks everyone for the votes and great comments.

I really liked this image when first viewed, that's why I gave it an 8. It's a wonderful view and sight. It's always baffled me to see these ships get washed ashore like that. Living inland doesn't give me much of a chance to see these events. Call me next time. ;\

Congrats on your PB and top 10!

Great image. I didn't hear about this, or there might have been 2 entries of this boat. :) I'm trying to pick the beach - is this south of Pt Cartwright? I was up there only the week before! Ah well, great shot! The BW works well, and it's nice and crisp.

I wanted to score your photo at 10 but there seems to be just a tad to much sharpening at the starboard bow. As it goes, I'll go with the next best thing: 9. So, I did some research and found out that this boat, the Magus, washed ashore on May 24 onto Buddina Beach in Australia.

Interesting choice going with b&w. You could have just as much impact showing in color and just calling it "Beached."

Nice detail in the boat, water and sky. B&W enhances a stormy sort of feel.
