If this shot gets any decent score, it will prove the camera is irrelevant. I got my wife a new Canon IXUS for Mother's day. There was one criteria for the purchase, and it had nothing to do with image quality. Just size. She wanted the smallest camera available, so it would fit in her handbag. Well, the handbag thing meant that she had it with her when we went to the beach. I held it down low on the ground near the water, and used the display to compose the shot. With my DSLR, I would have had to lay out flat on the cold rocks with my head and chest in the water.

It wasn't until editing this shot that I realised I've submitted my seascape entry from pretty much the same spot about this time last year. One of those rocks is the same one! :)

I spotted the people up on the rocks, and took a couple of shots, and this pose is the one I like best. There's actually a couple of other people hiding in the tree on the right, but they aren't very noticeable with their outlines hidden in the tree.

Editing was saturation, some D&B, colour adjustments to bring out more of the orange tones, minor cloning, selective sharpening. Hopefully I haven't overdone the blue.

I actually think this shot is all wrong compositionally, but in the abscence of anything nicer, the crop is unchanged from the camera. However, the colours are nice, the mood is calm, and the sillhouettes of the girl and the dad do really add a nice focus to the image. I hope it does well. There's been a few similar style images on the front page this week (better than mine), so hopefully people are still in the mood for the style by the time the FS rolls over. :)

Post-challenge - Well there it is, one of my top images. Score one for the Canon IXUS 80. :)

Nice composition. The couple watching the moon on the left are nicely balanced by the tree on the right.

I would have titled it "Romeo and Juliet" - at least that's the first thing that came to my mind when I viewed the shot. Very nice use of late light.

BEAUTIFULLY composed. The 2 people add the perfect final touch to the scene which really makes it unique. I love the detail you left in the rocks and sand

This is really lovely. I like the blues and the composition with the moon just above the people. Great lighting, intriquing capture with about a million stories that could be playing out between the two people.

I really like this shot- very different, very nicely taken.

To be honest the people are very nearly superfluous in this, the tones and colours, the silhouettes and the moon all combine beautifully.

It would be great to see this in the top ten.
