Thanks for the many kind comments. The picture is of a young Maasai girl. It was taken in north central Tanzania. Africa is a wonderful continent filled with amazing people. Hopefully some of the images that I have the privilege to upload will give you a small glimpse in this awesome place.

Ohhhhhhh. . . .rarely does a blue ribbon make me cry. I will be haunted by this image long after I click away from it. What powerful documentary. And Congratulations on your photo winning top honors -- as it should!

And here we are, drunk with petrol and worried that our luxurious lifestyles are in danger, while elsewhere in the planet the battles being fought are far more important and primeval.

Is it really so hard to realize we are just ONE? That we are all connected and our common fate depends on what we do and how we act as a species?

Obviously it's had post-processing, but it's so subtle that it enhances and allows the subject, rather than the processing, to take center stage.

Wow! Great shot. Very sad to see people having to live in these conditions. You can feel the emotion in the eyes, hand and expression. I wish the eyes were just a tad sharper (although still an amazing and wonderful photo).

extremely strong and provoking image. it's actually the first one in this challenge that made me search for info about the actual movie.
this picture is straight forward and makes us see that our daily-life problems are sooo very insignificant compared to what's going on in some parts of africa. these brandings are the most horrible part to look at. thanks for sharing this! an instant 10 and favorite
