, MEOWteorologist, why didn't I think of that, LOL! Brilliant :-)
Mark Ronchetti is the chief meteorologist on KRQE, our local CBS affiliate. I've sent in lots of weather images that he's shown on the news broadcast, so I thought I'd try something different :-) He seems to have a pretty good sense of humor -- I'll find out when I send it in!
ETA: He did have the good sense of humor I hoped for; he did show it on his weather broadcast and all the folks seemed to get a kick out of it.
This is my first try at using the little light box I made this morning based on this article:

Here is the setup:
I also held a light on the top when taking the image. They are all the full-spectrum compact fluorescent bulbs. The setup image was just taken with the on-camera flash, a big difference from the light box:
To create the background I picked up a current satellite image from one of the government sites, then just did my best to mimic the font, colors and treatment KRQE uses for its on-screen text.
I actually made this box with hopes to shoot my mother's day image setup, but the box was too small so I came up with the weatherman idea on a whim, just so I could say I used the box! I have an idea for a larger box that I hope to make in the next few days, so stay tuned for a later mother's day reenactment!
And here is my new tricked-out light box using PVC pipe; it's great! |

| ROFL!! OMG, this is wonderful. The expression on the cat is priceless. I think this is the look most weathermen would have if they were honest, since they know they are completely guessing what will happen on any given day. |

I swear, Colleen - you are a rare genius. This is so good, I can barely stand it. The TIE!! The smirk on his face - it's just completely outstanding. You have GOT to let us know if you get a reaction to sending it in!!!

OMG COLLEEN .. this is insane .. INSANELY GOOD . !! ..
i reckon Mark Ronchetti will hire you straight away if he has anything remotely involving cats and photographs of them with extreme processing ... !!! .. or ANYTHING else for that matter .. !!
after looking at your setup i'm in awe ..
i thought you did most of your 'adjustments' in photoshop .. i can see why something like this would take 7 hours .. its a brilliant idea, so imaginative, and your finished product is amazing ..

you've thought of every little detail .. i'm sure if i sat here for a few more minutes i'd see more and more little things that would appeal .. :)
