King Ludwig II built this lovely place - Neuschwanstein, literally "New swan stone" - which served as the inspiration to Walt Disney. This is your typical tourist shot taken from the bridge VERY high over the gorge behind the castle. I'm pretty sure there are several thousand similar shots from the past couple of days alone. But to get it, I had to brave the hords on the bridge and get a spot. And probably only a very small percentage of those hords thought to underexpose by a stop and a half or so. :-) Anyway, a nice vacation shot - I'll post more of the castle at some point.

I visited Fussen back in 2006, got the similar shot but the sun was from the 'wrong' side. Great place. I spent a few days as a guest in one 'commune'. Must come back once in my life...

This is breathtakingly stunning. Postcard, perhaps, but there is a good reason for that. I love that a bridge was built over the gorge, makes you wonder if it was specifically built for the view of the castle.

I liked his castle Linderhof (which is more like a mansion).

Also, did you ever check out the Texas Falkenstein castle during your stay in San Antonio? It is based off of a Ludwig design for a castle he never built.

p.s. Nice picture.

I got to a point where i was not even looking at titles any more. I just liked this for the overall presentation. The sky is beautiful, I love the lighting on the castle, and it's also cool to see the town/village in the background. Beautiful shot!

Wow! What a fairy-tale like image. Maybe a tad over saturated, but...wow! It's simply breathtaking. The type of photo you would see in a tourism brochure or magazine.

I hope to see this one day. What a HUGE building this is!! I guess I had no idea it was this large. The village in the background works nicely to showcase this castle. Your detail and color tones are postcard beautiful!!

wow, very beautiful capture, i like the gradient look to the sky and the lightness of the water in the distance, I also like the positioning of the castle -Lovely image!! :) I personally might have cropped out that left corner tree branch? but its a very slight almost unnoticible thing that I only noticed now because i'm staring at the image in awe :)

Hmmm When I got to visit that wondeful Castle I didn't notice the 'place' where this picture may have been taken? Was it perhaps quite a way from the castle or taken from a 'flying machine?
