 After some googling, this turned out to be a Siberian iris (I thought it was Japanese at first but I know so little about the flowers and mostly rely on what I hear either from my neighbors or parents when they come to visit).

Excellent patterns -- both the off-white in focus area in the lower left petal and the various out of focus purple petals. Very beautiful.

Another gorgeous shot. That lens does a fabulous job on focus and detail. I've got some Irises coming in right now. Maybe this weekend I'll shoot a few for the side challenge.
