I like. The one in the back looks grumpy. I bet it's because he isn't the focal point of the shot. :P

Funny how new life could appear deathly to me. I was one of those people that didn't notice the 2nd bird but now that I do it's even that much better!

My red line went as high as the numbers go. You had a major find there
and captured it well.

Dang; missed this during voting and I would have voted it high. The vulnerable baby birds are staying together and clinging tightly to a branch in a very scary, dark new world. Some of them will be out eating worms on the lawn in no time, while others will be some cat's lunch. Great image.

I thought this was a wonderful shot and infinitely more deserving of a higher placing than my own. I know you're used to scoring well but don't be afraid of getting lower marks every now and again if you really appreciate what you're doing yourself. For every voter that didn't 'get' this, there are others like me who think this is your amongst your best work.

Gosh, I just don't know what to say about this one. The overall feeling is that of death. I love it, a solid TEN and therefore

I love the tones and detail although I do not quite understand why you went with a brown to black and white transition. I love the bokeh birdie in the background too.

This is excellent in my unschooled opinion. Probably my favorite of the Free Study this month.

Wonderful, love the ghostly sibling too, excellent in b&w. Be great if you could have caught a bit of light in that eye :) Well done though :)

Wonderful details on this bird. B/w was a good choice, but I am curious what the color version looks like.

I can't tell if this is suppose to be B&W or Sepia? The bottom is B&W and the top feels more Sepia. I would have rather had it one way or the other IMHO. -BB

Excellent - so much atmosphere. The photo tells a story. Your BW tones are outstanding, as well as the composition. Good to see a different kind of bird shot - or I should say bird photo.

very nice, i like the bw sepia colour that you choose here, it makes the picture look more harsh and more edge of your seat waiting for the bird to fly. you captured this well, with his little down feathers peeking up. well done 9
