Fuji A820 point & shoot photo. It's a hover fly, laying eggs. You have to be quick or sneaky. Here is the camera file unedited.
Manual, Macro, Flash 1/200, f7.1, iso 200
Edit, Levels, Brightness, Highlights. Not sharpened, no noise reduction.

And another of the same type bug with 55mm Micro Nikkor and S3 pro Fuji

WOW! You must be both quick and sneaky to get a couple of great shots like that!

That would be a great Challenge: the "Quick & Sneaky" challenge! Excellent capture on-the-fly so to speak.

However did you manage to capture this with such precise focus?! What an interesting and colorful fly. Really fine example of the capabilities of a P&S camera. (I think you should list the camera in the Photograph Info section.)

Wow! I can't imagine trying this with my P&S, but I may try after seeing this. I love that you captured it from underneath. It looks so fat and big-headed! It seems to defy the laws of physics that it can fly with such little dainty wings!
Great capture!!

that is one awesome mid air grab - i really don't think i would have any chance with my p&s unless it was by complete mistake - the colors are really intense on these flies and the dark background helps driver our attention to the weird looking thing

That is either some really fast fingers or a lot of patience and many tries! Nice catch!
