Alas, the last of my 3 Wales images submitted to DPC ;)

One did rank bad one is doing pretty well (7.3) so this one should be average ;) People will probably recognise it's mine as i find the style is exactly the so I hope that doesn't cause any problems.

Again, many many subtle edits via photoshop, really stressing one can edit heavily and produce nice results.

Note the ISO 1400!

Absolutely stunning image. Great colors.

The sky is over procssed, way too burned.

What makes these compositions interesting, besides camera setting to get the desired feel, is first and foremost the framing. Selecting the interesting angle of view. This is where most photographers faulter. These shots are treacherous because the rock formations are generally dark. Here the the flow of the rivulet is used to great advantage, it defines the main bolder in the center and the left flows right down the image. The sky, the myst and the lonely bush, slowly bring the eyes down. A superb comp snatched out of an otherwise busy subject.

Jon, Man: that score would be second best ever on my personal list, and you don't even ribbon for it - unfair, unfair. That blue can only just be around the conrner, surely.

Stunning image, Jon. I could tell it was yours by the lovely, brooding, moody look to it. Nice work!

superb storm light and excellent use of low speed to provide the effect on the water stream. bravo! a very luminous photo!

Great shot, effective choice of shutter speed. Good composition. I like the mood in this shot. The graduated sky works well. 10

Great light - well done! Slow exposure perfect for the flowing water.

The most appealing thing about this image for me is that I get a strong sense that it results from a combination of great camera work and great post processing. The composition is outstanding. It looks like the tree and perhaps some areas of the hill it is on have been highlighted through lightening and darkening the image. The motion blur of the flowing water is wonderful.

Nicely done. One of my favorites for this challenge.

beautiful

wow 1st place? excellent water flow tree in upper right mood of it all ... exposure wouldn't change a thing 10+
04/02/2004 04:31:31 PM
This looks familiar! ;)

In this case I would say that the sky is oversaturated compared to the lighter reflections of sky in the water. If one masks the sky from view the scene does not have much impact, but it is more natural. A more subtle depth of blue and graduation would have been more sensitive.

I'm rather jealous of your available landscapes. If only all DPCers could live in Wales. 10.
