Challenge: Garbage (Classic Editing)
Camera: Fujifilm FinePix S602Z
Location: Graveyard, St Nicholas Church, Basildon, England
Date: Oct 3, 2002
Aperture: 2.8
ISO: 160
Shutter: 1/500
Date Uploaded: Oct 3, 2002

I was walking through the local churchyard with and saw this cigarette packet discarded rather callously. It cried out to be entered into the garbage challenge and I think the photo works on several levels. It shows how nowhere is safe from the menace of rubbish and dont you think a cigarette packet on a grave is deliciously ironic??

a passing idea - this could have been very cool if you'd used the cig packets as gravestones themselves, and set them upright in the ground. Use a low/close perspective and get them to look the same size as the other gravestones....

If you have an Administrator Note, It's almost always a cool pic. This is well done. At a local funeral home they have a special smokers room, I think they are trying to drum up business.

You would think that people would understand how this is done by now huh? Maybe you could do a tutorial on how you achieved it so that photos like this might get less DQ requests. This is very well done, The angle and framing/cropping are great. The color on black and white is also nice. Nice shot. Good luck in the challenge. ~Hbunch7187~

I can´t see why this one needs a administrator note. It´s a good composition and a clear message. Well done!

Man, I love when someone uses photographic technique to stump the masses around here ;o) Nice work! It is a strong image that accomplishes what so many others tried in this challenge. Nice DOF and focus. 8 ~indigo997

Good, if obvious image.
Helped by the B&W background which I have a feeling may break the rules.

Bit obvious in terms of the juxtaposition (I'm presuming it's staged, but I'm probably wrong), but I like it regardless. seasick - 8
