Photograph Information Photographer's Comments
Challenge: Centered Composition III (Basic Editing)
Camera: Nikon D300
Lens: Nikon AF Nikkor 85mm f/1.8D
Location: Edmonton
Date: Apr 8, 2008
Aperture: f/16
ISO: 200
Shutter: 1.3
Date Uploaded: Apr 9, 2008

Image was shot using a black velvet background and illuminated using two SB800s and the on-board flash, all set to strobe approximately 8 times over the duration of the exposure. The idea was to capture motion rather than freeze the image. (I thought the "Centered" challenge would be great for highlighing the symetry of the pattern produced by the threads of aluminum streaming off of the turning bit)

a neat freeze frame, but could use a little bumping up of the colors for some more visual impact.

Very good. I'd have give more thought to the block of aluminium - it's not centred.

Nice motion capture. The hole in the aluminum is a little distracting.
