Frankly, I don't think this translates into Black & White as easily as I had hoped.

Process: This time I choose a file that was initially edited as part of a batch. That means that when I started the manual changes, it already had Auto-Levels, Auto-Contrast, Auto-Color, and Auto-Sharpen under it's belt in PSE 4.0...My Part: Duplicate Layer, Remove Color, Duplicate Layer again, Apply Accented Edges Filter with Multiply Blending, Master Opacity Change, Stamp Visible, Screen & Overlay Blending, and finally Omni Lighting Effect with emphasis on the focus petals (upper, right of center.) Enjoy! :)

This does well in b&w and has an eloquent feel to it, I do agree that a bit more detail in the background could strengthen the photo, still very nice.

for me the background goes to black, I would like to sense the rest of the scene. The highlights were handled very nicely.

I think it translates pretty well though you lost a bit of detail in the background. Still, it very much highlights the delicateness of the blossoms.

nice effort with the lighting to exemplify the glow of these beautiful flowers - i wish we had some life around here - no surprise, but I like the color better - better background details

I generally don't get into flower B&W's but this has an interesting strength to it. Nice work.

I love the tones you have captured here. The black and white accentuated the texture in the blossoms as well.

Actually, this looks like a good image for B&W... there is a good range of contrast from white all the way to black.
