Again, not 100% sure, but I think they're starlings.

These birds do have beautiful markings. I like the action you caught with the one bird reaching for food and the other seeming as if it is looking for food. There is something about this picture that makes it not pleasing to my eye. It seems too harsh maybe, like everything is rigid or overly sharp.

It looks like chromatic abberation to me too. I don't know if your camera can do RAW, but photoshop does wonders taking it out.

They have beautiful markings! I'd love to tell you what they are but I haven't a clue. I did see another shot of one of these not that long ago... if I can find it, I'll let you know.

Hmmm have not seen these kind of starlings b4.. Interesting the dotted markings and the wing colors.. Will post our starlings so u can see what we have..
Can see the magenta outline again.. Are u shooting in Raw? just wondering..

Hi Jess - nice shot, and yes they do look like a form of starling we have over here. Real pests - get into your gutters and roofs.
As with your other photo of the ducks, have you noticed that there is a magenta tinge to the, I think, sunny or glarey side of the black parts of these birds. Can you shoot in RAW with this camera because if you can there is a facility to correct chromatic aberration when you load the file into photoshop
