Made a long walk (23km) from Lauwersoog to Leens (but you probably never heard of this places). This was just one of the nice moments.

In the colored version everything below the man is just green.

Couldn't use unsharp mask here. I'm getting an irritating white line just above the dike.

I can't add anything that has not been said already, other than to agree. The minimalism works so very well.

Awesome sense of depth or distance to this shot.

I would have considered cloning out the other distractions along the horizon.

I love it, I am big fan of shots like this very graphic and allows for so much space to envelope the viewer and gives a good perspective of how small one can be in the world.

A PP tip: An easy way to get rid of the halos if you want to sharpen something is to set your clone tool to darken mode. After you have sharpened zoom in on the halos and pick a small radius, just larger than the halo. Sample from just above the halo and run the clone tool along the halo, it will disappear. :) You can PM if you want a better explanation or more help. :)

Nice minimalistic shot, clean and simple. I don't think it really needs to me sharpened but if wanted to and didn't want the halo you can duplicate the backround layer and then apply the sharpening to that duplicate layer. Then you can mask out the parts on the dup layer that become oversharpend, such as the horizon line.

Good minimalist photo! At first I thought the sky should be a little darker, but the more I look at it, the more I think you got it just right. The big light sky balances the darker bottom third of the photo.

Its ok without sharpening, you really give the sense that 23km were walked.
The tiny person along with the trees (are they trees?) on the left bring out the size of the land

The isolation of this shot is quite good, but I almost wonder if it needs a bit more contrast to really come off

Nice and clean and simple. You've got just enough clouds in the sky to keep the upper part interesting without distracting from the man walking. Nice job.

Like how you used the empty space and the small size of the man to convey the length of the dike. [Near Groningen, I see.]

No sharpening is required, in my opinion. This is one of those shots that works fine with a touch of softness to it, and the man is quite distinct. Excellent minimalism. I love the little bits of trees to the left - they compliment the lone walker very nicely.

That is one serious B&W shot! No need for further comments. In colour it would not work. A classic.
