Challenge: Motion Blur (Advanced Editing I)
Camera: Fujifilm FinePix A203
Location: Black Hills, Arizona
Date: Mar 22, 2004
Galleries: Landscape, Floral
Date Uploaded: Mar 22, 2004

I took this in the Black Hills of Arizona. The poppys grow all over the hills during the spring. It was really windy that day so the flowers I zoomed in on came out blurry. Perfect for this challenge.I used auto enhance and darkened the contrast.

This could be improved by ensuring the rest of the picture is in sharp focus.

Yes it is blurry and out of focus but that is not what motion blur is about and I dont see any motion in this photo

this is just blurry, not motion blurry.

Sorry I dont really get the "motion" bit of "motion blur" here. The ground is also blurry and I doubt it was moving. Possibly your hands.

I don't feel the movement blur here enhances the subject, rather makes it worse.

Your blur may have been the effect of wind or motion but to me it just looks out of focus/shallow DOF with the ground in relative focus. Can't really add anything that would improve the shot because I'm not sure what you were trying to accomplish. Sorry. Keep on plugging at it. :)

The idea was motion blur, not just blur.

I'm not sure that "blury" = "motion" necessarily. It simply looks out of focus, rather than being in motion.

Not the best of subjects for motion blur since nothig is obviously moving - just appears out of focus. 3

Why is the poppy blurry? And everything else?

This simply feels out of focus rather than motion blurred. The background is very distracting and 'busy' and doesn't support your subject very well. = 2

I would have cropped it different to get more of the flower in the shot.

This doesn't show any motion blur to me. It just looks out of focus.
