In honor of "free-range", or unfenced world of chickens/eggs/beef/pork, I decided to attempt to set a little photo free, to see how an "unfenced" or "free-range" photo would fare in the free range of DPC viewers.

Thus, my attempt to free an oppressed photo from the fences of frames, composition, ISO settings, "meeting the challenge", and all those multiple forms of slavery and bondage imposed upon a photo by photographers. I entered this little free-range photo in hopes that it would bring a little humor to those in DPCland who live in an overly fenced world of inside the box, must meet the challenge, suburban photography.

Alas to my chagrin and dismay, my grand experiment of setting one little photo free from the oppressive enslavement of boundaries has miserably failed. Not only have the DPC judges (voters) deemed this little free-range "chicken" a failed experiment, handing her a malnourished score (I'll predict under 3), but as you noticed with perception and insight, this little grey photo is not free at all. There she stands, still fenced in by that oppressive thin black boundary imposed by computer programmers. Though I gave my free-range photo no border in my hopes of setting her free to cluck away on the open range, she still got locked into preconceived fences of misunderstanding and technological limitations.

With a sigh, I admit to being a photocrat, an oppressor of harmless images by erecting fences around and within my lovely innocent photos. If you posted a DNMC comment on this photo, you might ask yourself about the unplanned "fences" defining your photos, running around and through every one of your images.

I like your comments in these three... but mostly this one. Say the funny, step beyond it, and get serious. Very cool.

Too small. You should take advantage of the 640-pixel dimensions permitted under Basic Rules.

Is this charliebaker again, or an imitator? I'll say one thing for these entries -- they provoke a reaction in me. However, the reaction is about the photographer and not the "photo." Have fun,
