I'm guessing the voters will say a portrait must be of a human. Bah. This creature is a far more worthy subject than any person.

To the someone who will likely say it's washed out: it's partially desaturated intentionally.

To the someone who will likely say it's over sharpened: that was also intentional.

Gotta justify every choice 'round here, y'know.

i like this photo a lot it has really nice detail and definition. I know there is no way of changing it but maybe a different perspective could help block out that shadow in the back, it seems to throw off the viewers eye. Other than that great shot

Way to capture that majestic look of disdain. I would like to have seen a wider angle, showing more of the environment that this lion is in.

hmmm, yes, it is a portrait and it is taken in its environment. And yes, the title explains the environment. But still, this is not the environment I would like to see a lion in. It is a nice pic though, maybe a little more context or surroundings -while keeping the lion out of the center of the picture, would have made it even nicer.
