Too much dog, too little knife |

Aww, I'm a sucker for dogs. The knife is OOF & has distracting reflections, also the glare in the top l. is distracting. My dogs love peanut butter too! |

Nice capture. The nose & butter knife are bit out of focus. |

In my opinion there are a few things wrong with this picture - The Focus of this shot should be the knife as the title of the challenge is silverware. Secondly, the hand is distracting. You also need to put more thought into the background, the reflection on the appliance is also very distracting.
I think the main thing i'm getting at here is that there is no particular point of focus and that there is too much going on in the shot. I like the idea and it could have been effective if you'd put more thought and planning into it.
If I were to attempt a shot like this, I would have the dog sit on a white sheet, have some soft lighting, put the knife in front of him and snap away. |

B/R is too busy, knife is OOF. Hand should have been cropped IMHO. |

The puppy dog seems to be the subject because the knife is slightly out of focus. It is difficult to get a balanced shot with a camera mounted flash at arms length although your pet appreciates the attempt.

better focus would have helped here |

Lighting is a bit harsh and the depth of field is low. Basically, the subject is too close to the on-camera flash. |

Seems a bit out of focus and lighting is awfully harsh. |

I think the knife should be the center of focus, otherwise it is a snapshot of your dog being a dog. |

Not sure what to do to help this photo. Maybe a spoon instead of a knife... the knife almost makes it look like the dog is being cut. Natural light would have helped a lot too. |
