We have trains everywhere in "The Region". I heard that Hammond was built to have a place to bring all the trains in so stuff can get shipped to Chicago. I grew up in Hammond and trains were a daily event. I still work there and get plenty, but we rarely get them where I live now and I am very thankful.

I took a few quick snapshots out the car window. The car was stopped. I was zoomed way out and thought I would get something at night so didn't worry about it. I didn't get much tonight so I had to really crop this. It didn't look so hot so I applied some filters, including the impressionism water color filter.

I guess this is a great reason for the filters since you didn't like the lack of hotness in the shot. It is wonderful with the oranges, reds and yellows.

The processing and time spent really paid off with this one. I like the varied colors of train cars and the textures the processing brought out. Good decision with the tighter crop.

I love how the colors turned out on this - very painterly overall.

My dad was a locomotive engineer before he became an opera singer (I'm serious) and when we still lived in the US, he'd take me up in the locomotive sometimes. Somehow, in my subconscious mind, those must have been the best times of my childhood. Consequently I'm crazy about trains and I get excited when I hear one, or when I see a photo like this. You saying you have trains everywhere made me salivate - I would love that.

Love how the colours have really be emphasised with the processing. Really stands out against the grey sky. This filter works well on this.

Nice processing, gives it a kind of miniature look. Just a train to play with.

Definitely has a painterly, old world feel to it. The train colors blend nicely into the landscape, and I like this perspective.

The filters enhancing the color of the cars pop against the bleak terrain..

Nice effect!!
