Although GE failed to provide the lighting to find the butter, some indirect moonlight through the kitchen window and a hand held multi-second exposure was able to find it.

Post Challenge Comment:
Thanks everyone for the great comments. It truly has been a fun challenge and I owe it all to colorcarnival, whom I challenged for this prestigious race. She had picked jonathans original photo and we went head to head. Too bad her photo was so much better.

One of the great things about DPC is the way it allows you to watch people's photography improve and mature over time. I'm sure when you look at this image and compare it to ones that you took in the past like and you must cringe at the fact that you used to produce images of such sharpness and with a range of vibrant colours as well as the fact that they used to be so so big

A sterling effort for which I unreservedly salute you

Ron, you ROCK! Huge congrats on the brown of the brown. Many people are envious. Edit to add, you need your own special ribbon, no doubt.

This way my funniest pick of the challenge. Very creative, and from the moment I saw it, I knew you were the king of the brown, and well deserving of so many 1s. Fantastic! :)

Congrats on the brown ribbon. I would have thought that there'd be a brown ribbon for the Brown of the Browns....hmmm...

Absolutely brilliant to enter something too small! Why didn't I think of that? Very well done and congratulations on your "win"!!

Possibly DPC's biggest achievement so far!

Wish I could. Way too dark, way too small.

I can't decide whether to give you a 10 or a 1. Okay, I'll go with the 1. Nope, make that a 2 - I do like the "buttery" frame.

Whatt! Very little and very dark. Cant really make anything out.

hmm... I guess an improvement over the original, but this photo is still very small in size and you can't hardly see the butter in the photo

Needs to be bigger ... having now looked at the original this is much funnier

Um... I think the point of the challenge is that you were supposed to improve upon the original...

Too small, and not very interesting at all.
Perhaps better lighting ?

Is there any reason why you havent used the 720 pixel max size? Too small and although we can see the butter in this shot (just) I dont feel its a great deal better than the original

02/22/2008 04:45:23 AM
that's quite funny, but the quality of the image is not much better than the original. might have helped to upload the image in regular size

what is it?

going for the brown in the the 'brown challenge'? ;)

Are you trying to out-brown the brown ribbon? I found Jonathan's picture, which looks totally black, so this is an improvement there. However it's so tiny and out of focus. FWIW I'm not voting.

I guess your going for the uber brown.
