This photograph has a rich range of values. The light background and the white pants balance the darkness of the upper body of the subject.

The black and white contract very well in this shot. The shadow adds interset to the photo, as well as the reflections in the end of the trumpet.

music and peace go well together. Nice b/w conversion

When I first looked at this in the challenge context without the title I thought first of words associated with trumpets, like "blare." I think with a slightly different angle, shallower DOF, and more light and focus on the face, my perception would change and I would immediately see what the title tells me. IMO.

I'm sure you find peace here but what about the neighbors who have to listen to you practice? ;-) I'll accept that this represents peace to you but it is not what I think of when I see this image.

I like the bold, graphic quality of the image. It might be improved by moving further from the wall so the shadow would not be visible. Darker pants would also keep them from being blown out.

Playing music is a good way to escape, and it's different for this challenge.

Not enough light on his face, in my opinion.

Well done shot. Doesn't really say peace to me, but I'll give it to you.

Like: Good shot, everything is well lighted and shadows are good.
Dislike: It looks like you used soft focus but I may be wrong, it doesnt seem that sharp.
I gave it an 8
