Greetings from the Critique Club...

Hi Rooster...

The pose and composition of your portrait are both excellent. The lighting and exposure don't seem to be strong enough to really bring out the 'character' and 'mood' you may have been trying to convey with this photo. Since you didn't post any exposure information or any photographer's comments along with this photo, I can't really comment on your intent or technique. The contrast is a bit weak and could have possibly been shot with a different technique to improve that.

Thanks General! I think it did okay considering how many people thought it needed more light. I wish I could find out how many of thise comments are from epople not calibrating their monitors. I have to edit my shots with it super dark so as not to keep getting these comments but I still need to wrk that out.

All in all, it wasn;t too bad. :)
Thanks everyone who dropped a comment!

a beautiful face and the white with and without the sun adds a layer of interest

This beautiful woman with lovely flowing locks I'm sure has raised the spirits of many a man but I'm trying to figure out what embodiment of spirit she is expressing in the image. Is that spirit determination and will?; is it religious in nature?; Is it strength of character? Her look is void and so it's hard to tell and I am left with the only clue I could find, which is what appears to be a religious shawl that she is clutching. What significance this has I'm not sure but the lines of the cloth give a strong graphic element, probably the only strong point in the image. Her clothes are plain and she also suffers from being half in light and half in shadow, as well as, being underexposed and a green cast to her face. I would have preferred to have seen her wear some sort of religious or cultural/ethnic garb instead of the sweatshirt she is wearing and to have her hair brushed better.

Lovely girl in a classic pose brought into modern day - I would love to see a little more light on the face but that's me - it's a nice shot. - 7

A great capture of the subject's personality - something every portrait should strive to do. I like the tones and the lighting.

Beautiful shot. I would have liked to see more light on her face though.

Pretty good, but the light's a little harsh on the left side of her face, and there isn't enough light ON her face. Looks like you took it in pretty harsh sunlight. Perhaps consider a bit of fill in flash? Loved the title but I doubt most people will get it. (I used the same word in my master's thesis... lol)

Very, very pretty. Tinge more contrast would suit my taste though. BOL

I love the composition... but the colour looks a little faded on my screen... and a little blur.. 6 for me...

Very Nice Capture, I would like so see some reflective light to bring out the facial highlights

Great picture. A little light on the face perhaps to give a more spiritual look and get a spark in the eys. Also a tighter crop at the bottom. Nonetheless, this is a moving shot.

Beautiful. I only wish for more light and focus on her beautiful face. Good entry.

maybe could have used a bit more light across her face...but other than that I like this a lot

There is a white haze to this photo that I find distracting...

Good shot, posing and composition, but her face needs contrast

the contrast is low, it gives the picture a hazy quality i would have tried to remove if it were mine... there's also very little detail in her hair, the shadows tones could be brought out somewhat

an unusual apsect ration but entirely in keeping with the subject. Brilliant use of shadow and compositional position to emphasise to face. This is a lovely portrait.
