i took these photographs last night driving home .. we had the most amazing storm with some extremely dramatic cloud formations .. i took a detour, well i took several so that i could get this sky with something approaching 'nice' for a scene to go with it .. this isnt quite wot i had in mind, but because its nearly mountainous and not that many roads i was limited in wot i could find ..
i stitched together three photographs that i took one after the other moving the camera a bit to the left for each one .. i didnt use a tripod .. these are nearly the real colours ..

sydney is in the direction of the darkest clouds and that's the way the storm was going .. its not that far .. probably between 60 to 100 kms ..

Nice work, Roz. This is a technique I've always meant to try. My only suggestion would be,IMNSHO, to ditch the big, black border. It's a beautiful scene and there's a lot of good stuff to see. I'd rather look at the picture than the border. I think the border would be fine if the print were larger, and we were looking at in on a wall.

This looks like a picture that would be hanging on someone's living room wall. Beautiful capture of some very dramatic clouds. I like the hills and how the seem to gently "roll" to the right.

Beautiful panorama with very moody clouds. I am happy you took several detours to get to this vantage point.

Excellent composite, Roz! The colors are stunning. I love it when there is a dramatic storm like that. Heard that your Sydney GTG is going to be rained out? Hope you all can make it some other time.

Roz, This looks like a serious storm coming in. That's a pretty place that you found, and I like it as a panorama. Nice job!

Love the subdued colors, the clouds, the leading lines of the road. I even like the little sign on the post, makes me wonder what it says. Well composed shot

WOW Roz, handheld??? The sky is magnificent and the scenery is gorgeous.
And I love the little dirt roads on the left, kind of puts it all in perspective.

I've been meaning to try this as well, taking multiple shots and stitching them together, you did a great job, it's breathtaking!!

This turned out really well - especially for a hand held pan. It can be very difficult to keep the horizon level without a tripod. You found a really lovely spot. I love how the terrain moves from upper left to lower right in the pan which is also echoed by light to dark going the same way. Very well done, roz.

The stitching job was well done! I bet this would make a great giant poster on the wall. I've been reading about doing HDR panoramic shots but haven't tried any yet. But considering that you did this handheld makes me really, really want to try.

I love drama in the sky like this- using a panorama was brilliant to really show it at it's best. the dirt road & fence add a lot !

Nice combination Rozy. You'll have to show me how to do this sometime.
