Greetings from the Critique Club..

Hi Train...

This is an excellent portrait. It's simple and straightforward. The uniform and had create some interest for me as a viewer, even thought I'm not acquainted with the subject in any way. Viewing the image makes me wonder about this man's career. The look in his eyes tells me that he probably has a lot of stories to share.

The only room for improvement that I see is some possible cleanup of the background on the right side of the image.

I gave this photo a 10... excellent work :)

I think black and white did something for this photo that colour could not do

Excellent! I would try to get the subject a bit further away from the background so that the wrinkles in the BG don't show. You've done a very good job of eliminating any reflections in the eyeglasses while retaining catchlights in the eyes and you've portrayed a man obviously proud of what he is and proud to serve his public! Very powerful image.

such a formal headshot really fits well with the importance of the man in uniform. Could have done with a bigger distance to the background to get it out of focus.

This is very well done. I love the sepia feel and the whole old fashion look. It reminds me of old photos of my grandfather. The man in your photo looks very warm hearted. It shows through his eyes and smile. Good correction of glass glare. You've done well. I wish you best of luck with this.

I just keep coming back to this photo for some reason. It's great! So much character in is face and I love the tones and lightness of this photo. It has a very noble feel to it. Very nice job. Bumped up to an 8 :)

Do they still make them like this? :)) A lovely prortrait in the classical style. An evocative and meaningful portrayal of a man who has lived his profession. Very nice work. 9

The black and white doesn't do much for me here. I find it rather boring, but you do focus on his face.

I really like this! Wonderful toning, makes it look like it could have been taken at any point in the past. Very clear and sharp, has interest, full of personality, great composition. Just really great!

Judging by the insignias..someone has been doing a bit of searching in the attic?
Great image of bygone times

Quite a formal portrait, well lit especially considering the challenge of shadows from the peaked hat. The sepia works well - perhaps the background would have been less intrusive if it was further away but it is a nice study anyway.
