Challenge: Off-Screen Expectation (Basic Editing I)
Camera: Sony DSC-F717
Location: My House
Date: Mar 9, 2004
Aperture: F/3.5
ISO: ISO-100
Shutter: 1/125 sec.
Galleries: Animals, Action
Date Uploaded: Mar 9, 2004

Finally all three of my cats got to be in one picture. I took several shots to get the correct exposure and timing. Of course you may or may not know how hard it is to get an animal to do what you want.

Crop to take ball out of shot, desaturate.

Used tripod, remote, and flash to capture in air.

I don't expect this to fair very well because of the cats. But if you notice I have all three cats interested in different things that you can't see.

Very interesting photo; however, it doesn't really make one wonder what is going on off screen.

so ..did you kick it ? :))

Bloody hell that's a big moggy! Or is it that the other two are further away? Not entirely sure the light switches and wall is necessary on the right. Cute picture anyway - 7.

nice action shot, but the open door light is a little too bright

Very clever. I assume it was all a matter of perspective. I think the shot wold have been better tho if cropped to show just the left side. There is really nothing interesting on the right and having it there distracts from the effectivemess of the picture

That is totally awsome! This is increadible idea. I've never seen it applied this way. I think we'll see a lot of spin offs in the next challenge. 9 (because I don't care for the lighting.)

I think this is brilliant! The framing is just a little odd and the light from the door means that we dont get to see the detail of the cat'scoat. But as an image of a moment it's brilliantly "what the hell is going on?" exactly what the challenge was all about IMO. well done.

could use a bit more cropping.

this is hilarious and can't believe you got the cat at the perfect angle to create great illusion

A funny image and nice focus Maybe could have cropped a lot of the wall out to the right

Brilliant, surreal, with facinating confusion of scale. Nearly as good as the famous Salvador Dali cats and water shot. When the comp is over you might go back to this and clean it up to remove traces of flash highlights and shadow on the switchplate and door. I'd also be inclined to take out everything in the open doorway to leave a white rectangle. I'd also crop the right side of the frame to just include the switchplate. I'm tempted to have a go myself!

Did you throw your cat?
03/10/2004 03:11:59 PM
nice shot, but it needs more contrast and cropping -- the light switches on the right, for instance, don't need to be in this picture at all.

Bizarro image. What the hell is going on here? Did you guys drop the cat or what. This image makes no sense whatsoever. Perspective makes the flying cat look HUGE! Definitely weird...
