quick set-up shot. wanted to use a number symbol (#) instead of a plain string, but couldn't get the drop to hang properly. lit with a handheld flash with wireless trigger. background was a printout of a bunch of 9's, since the drop will invert the image.

PP - opened RAW in ACR, adding in some sharpness. crop, layer for levels. some cloning of stray dust spots (very visible at f16 and white background!), and a shadow in the drop.

post-challenge. Well, I certainly didn't expect a ribbon with that score, but I'll take it. Thanks for all the nice comments everyone.

This is truly one heck of an amazing macro shot. I love the use of the white background to make all the different colors stand out.

Nicely executed. Unfortunately, I think the 9 stands out much more than the 6s. That being said, I am not necessarily sure it would have been better had you reversed them.

That's not a nine, that's a ten! It took me a few seconds to spot the numbers in the droplet, when I did it was a real 'wow' moment. I'd love to see the setup for this one.

really creative!! nice use of DOF, great red line to catch the eye and the idea of the "turned" 9 is just great! that you can still see the 9 in the background is just great!

The difference from the 'usual' DPC water-drops refraction shot seems almost irrelevant, really. Good compositional eye, but not interesting to me.
